In hindsight, it was inevitable that they were going to go extinct as of September 11, 2001, although the first hints were in the 2000 election fiasco. 9/11 was almost exactly 9 months after the election was settled by SCOTUS. So you're saying the SCOTUS decision was pregnant with political implica...

Re: Orange is the new President

Remember how upset the conservative base was at the treatment John Kerry received in 2004 or John McCain in 2000 or 2016? Or the treatment of the gold star family in 2016? Exactly. The GOP owns the "respecting the troops" angle, no matter what they do. Yep. Because facts don't matter. Trump and W w...

I don't understand any of this, to be honest. I don't really know what cum town is, I don't know what DSA is, and I don't understand FFF's contention.

Gasoline has a flash point of -45 deg C, but flashpoints for various diesel formulations according to various sources range from 52 to 130 deg C. Much safer than gasoline, but not without hazard. American Petroleum Institute rates diesel and kerosene as high static accumulators. On further thought, ...

Re: Observations of the Random sort

I was refueling the other day, and another customer was filling gas cans while they were sitting on his vehicle. I forced myself to overcome my normal reluctance to talk to people to point out the safety hazard, i.e. that filling gas cans in such a manner runs the risk of building up a static charge...
