My new fridge has the wrap. Also not French doored. Side by side counter depth. Not awesome.
See, the big problem here is counter depth. aka "No space refrigerator". And yeah, cabinet panels look like butt, even if they match perfectly.

Re: Petty annoyances

One of my Amazon orders has not arrived because the USPS is claiming that they could not access our building, period. This strikes me as highly unlikely. That will randomly happen to some of my Amazon orders with USPS or UPS, and it makes no sense, because I get something from Amazon about twice a ...

Re: Orange is the new President

The CBO report linked wasn't speaking of an up-front cost to immigration. It was talking about the gross expenditures in Education, Healthcare, and Law Enforcement attributed to unauthorized immigrants, with minor effort given to accounting for the revenue generated by those same people. Perhaps the...

Re: Orange is the new President

I mean I've read elsewhere that it's not taken into account because they simply don't know how to track it. I felt that was fair. I think it's fair to say "We don't know how to track it, so we really didn't try", but not really fair to say that and then turn around and say "This big number is how m...

Re: Orange is the new President

It's convenient to say that a bunch of stuff is "not quantifiable" and thereby determine that Group X is not paying their way. I'm sure there are plenty of legal resident populations and native-born populations you could apply those same standards to, and come up with similar results. Plus, what gro...

Re: Silicon Valley Disrupts Its Own Ass

I see a lot of those electric rent-a-scooters in certain trendy Atlanta neighborhoods, and always wondered (regarding scooters in general, not just the electric app-operated ones): why do they only ever make them with two wheels rather than four (more like a roller skate than a roller blade, IOW), ...

Question: Are young women who starve themselves, obsess over make-up videos, and get a lot of plastic surgery also pathetic losers? Victims of the patriarchy? Mentally ill? I'm happy to concede that these male incel types are, at a minimum, misogynistic assholes that view women simply as objects ex...

It's a lot easier to blame someone or something else for your failings, instead of using self-reflection or acknowledging the false nature of decisions you've made. People will go to great lengths to justify their previous conclusions.

I really wonder what these "hundreds of billions of dollars" that 'illegal' immigrants are costing us are from. That seems like a total asspull, and ignores the economic benefit of a class of people that usually don't go around causing trouble.

I'm with Jason on this, that it's not nearly as convincing to me that More Houses = Lower Prices. I'm not necessarily up on how they compute the median for wages, but isn't that what you'd expect to happen when you fire a lot of low paid people? Cut a bunch off the bottom, and the statistics all go up.

And if you have to shut one down, you just got yourself a nice big greenspace park that can be allowed to go feral and put in some wildlife-friendly wetlands and hiking trails and such. Re: Portland's Golf Courses

I'd imagine just about every city of any size has a municipal golf course or four or seven. Baltimore has 5. And like everything that cities run, they are underfunded, maintenance deferred and "crumbling infrastructure". One reason is that people compare them to private clubs, or even privately owne...

TBS, I see no reason why someone couldn't produce a clip that would 'close' milk bags at least as tightly as milk cartons.
Couldn't they just put a screw on lid like they do with plastic milk jugs?

I don't think it's bad practice *because* it's gambling. I think it's bad practice because I don't like it, and don't like seeing people induced to pay for a *chance* to get something, compared to just having a store that you can buy the items in. I get that it's a moneymaker for game producers, but...

Re: Video Games!

You cannot win your money back that you spend. By definition that is not gambling. In a lottery it is possible to spend money on a chance to win more money. You cannot do that with loot boxes. Also if loot boxes are gambling then so are every collectible card game from Pokemon to Magic. Especially ...

Yeah, I'm in the 'gambling' camp as well, since it's a *chance* to get the valuable thing, not just buying it. If they just sold it, that's one thing you can complain about if you want (plenty of people complain about the Blizzard store for WoW). But selling gacha / loot boxes just adds another laye...

Brown vs. Gray would be entirely dependent on the rest of the room for me. What floors are you putting it on, what other furniture are you getting with it, what is the paint color of the walls? Do you actually like all those other things or are you changing them to go with your table? As a thing by ...
