Re: Antonio Brown's Used Helmet Emporium -- NFL 2019

The Browns banned a guy for dumping beer on Tennessee players when they were celebrating at the edge of the stands. Typically for the Browns, they banned the wrong guy, specifically a guy who says he hasn't been to a Browns game since 2010, and was DJing a wedding at the time.

Re: Money for Nothing: the Universal Basic Income

It would go both directions. Some people would find that the extra cash let them stay in the expensive area with their support or dreams / goals. Other people would find that the extra take home money let them live a much better life in a cheaper area, making up for the lack of other quality of life...

There's also that tweet from Pence's account that is obviously written by Trump. We know Pence is a sycophant, but that's a new level.

What was Mr. B Natural paired up with?
I just looked it up, because I thought of Mr. B Natural as well as a great introduction. It was with War of the Colossal Beast.

Re: In the Not Too Distant Future...

I'd think that in general, a lot of the kaiju/monster movies are pretty good ones for introducing someone without really worrying about which are the 'best' ones. Everyone recognizes that style of movie, and knows they have plenty of easy to make jokes. If I were being introduced to MST3K, I'd almos...

Re: We can win the war in Vietnam!

The criticisms I read were less the "negotiating with the Taliban" ones and more the "Trump (administration) secretly invited the Taliban to the US right before 9/11" ones.

Re: Money for Nothing: the Universal Basic Income

I want to point out a big disconnect between the ideas thrown around here of "If there is a UBI, it would have to replace all of the other types of welfare and assistance to be acceptable as a tradeoff" and "We couldn't allow payments for children, because then it would be just incentive to have kid...

Christ, but these Montessori hippies can’t run a school pick-up line worth a rat’s ass. The ghetto school across the way where the tr0gling was last year was bastly more organized than these clowns. The school traffic jams are one place where I get the geezer "Sheesh, Kids (Parents) these days!" he...

Re: The Techno-Bleg Thread

I'm not an expert, but you might have to go to a mesh network for that if you can't do a wired connection between your second wireless access point (WAP) and the main router. If you could get a wired network between the two, then you could should be able to put two WAP on the same network (i.e. the ...

Re: Twitter!

If the person unilaterally claiming oppression is the only one who is allowed to speak, how is it an argument? :?: And it doesn't really matter what one person claims if nobody else is going to agree with their claim. Ophelia can claim she's oppressed all she wants. If the skinny people "oppressing"...

I don't understand stan. Like is it meant to refer to superfans or toxic fans or people who hate shit? I have seen it used in a number of different ways and since I wasn't disaffected enough in my suburban high school to listen to Eminem I have no frame of reference. It's a self-reference for super...

Is anyone else seeing tapatalk use up a ton of data recently? It's used over 500 MB of data in the last 10 days for me, and it used to be more like 50 MB for a month. Yeah, I'd go along with a Goblin Slayer recommendation for you at least to try. You also can't do too badly with Makoto Shinkai's movies, although the early ones tore me up (Children who Chase Lost Voices, Voices from a Distant Star, 5cm per Second). The more recent ones are a lot more hopeful at th...

I've been abusing the lack of sleep lately, getting up at 6 and not going to sleep until midnight or later. A little more on weekends (up at 9, but going to bed at midnight). And on top of that, my stupid cats keep waking me up at 5.

Not that I'm a conservative whisperer or anything, and Trumpism aside, but I think they see themselves as fighting a losing battle to hang onto some kind of common national myths and social institutions that are the only thing that make the US a Nation. They hate po mo talk primarily because of thi...

So I just finished Neon Genesis Evangelion. I also recently watched Dallos . I'm enjoying catching up on a corner of culture I'm largely unfamiliar with. What are some other anime series I should watch? I'm looking for reasonably complex/mature, minimal 'if my wife walks in she'll think I'm a perv'...

It might be something that you could pay an installer about 2 hours worth of work to do. Would you want more wires run? Like maybe from the prime place to set the router? They could probably also run coax to it. Our house is about the same way (built in 1998). There is coax and phone in every single...

Looks neat, but I'm wondering why they went with the hard "Mega Action Movie Trailer" cut, music, and ambience. Seems a little overly dramatic and combative when they're talking about togetherness and drawing in families and casuals. I mean, I know those things can get cutthroat, but seems like you'...
