Re: A thread for mocking politicians

Anyone *can* be sued. Then you figure out if it's a meritless suit.
(That might be a pretty good description of Devin Nunes, too)

Re: Petty annoyances

Our gas furnace didn't get to that point, because we had it checked every few years and replaced it at about 14 years (when it started to show signs), but it's definitely possible for the heat exchanger in a gas furnace to develop corrosion and leaks, which can allow the combustion gases to mix with...

Ellie, because everyone's always been asking him "But couldn't they use RICO to prosecute Those Guys?!?!?!" It's never RICO, but he always has to say why it's not RICO. It's like the equivalent of "It's not Lupus!" on House.

Avenatti is such a clown.

Re: Damn database problems

I’m puzzled that when I try to sign in from my lappy I get “not a secure connection” at the login page. This doesn’t happen on my phone, but it did happen when I had the lappy use my phone’s internet connection. What am I doing wrong? You aren't doing anything wrong. The site does not have an SSL c...

Re: Food

Not really, no. If you sear meat in the pressure cooker first, just pick it up after you put the liquid in.

We've made pot roast in our instant pot a few times with no problem. Be a bit careful when you take it out, tho. Sometimes the liquid might hit a hot spot under some of the solids.

It snowed all afternoon yesterday, but since the temperature was over 35 the whole time, it just ended up being decorative flocking on the grass and vehicles.

Re: Food

Had a woman who cooks pretty authentic mexican tell me that white people mexican recipes use a lot more cumin than actual mexican recipes. I will say, the way I learned the flavor profile it's pretty cumin heavy. I'm wondering now if I'm selecting white guy recipes or if she had a regional experien...

Noone's claiming "equivalency", tho. And if you get past trying to claim your viewpoint is "objective", then it doesn't matter what another person claims about something you don't like being just as good as something you do like. That's just them being as subjective as you're being, and can be claim...

This one just has a timer and a temp setting. The one cat has always liked heating pads, but normal heating pad is ugly and uncomfortable I guess (and not big enough for his basketball shape). So far he seems to like it.

Baltimore tiger sauce is like horseradish and mayonnaise, because that's exactly what it is.

Whatever it might be somewhere else, it's that abomination here.

Yeah, that's dhex level writing and John the Melitary Laywer level wrong. Didn't you just say the reason in your first sentence? Because if the employee knows they will blow that money if it's in their bank account, they get a significant benefit from someone else holding onto it where they can't spend it.

Re: Food

The issue is more that the burners need a minimum size pot, and the largest burner's minimum size is 8 inches, which is pretty darn big for cookware, especially a house with 2 people. The other burners minimums are 5-3/4 inches (x2) and 4-3/4 inches (x1 plus 'warmer' pad). The burners need a minimu...

Yeah, we have pots that aren't any of that, but are induction ready (because of the base construction), and they work fine. It's just the sizing that we need to work on.

Our new range was delivered today, the (there's only one) GE Profile Freestanding Induction range. Not super fancy, pretty much the low end of induction ranges, but I feel a lot more comfortable with a GE appliance than a Samsung, LG, or even Frigidaire. Now to find out which pots work on which burn...
