Re: Guns and Whatnot.

a 3D-printed handgun made of plastic, the same material used in Lego blocks I hope they meant that it's the exact same type of plastic used in Legos. Because otherwise that's needless sensationalizing. Material science is not my strong suit, but I'd be surprised if it's the same plastic. Legos are ...

Re: Debate: Be an Anarchist, Not a Minarchist

When people can vote you out and you actually leave even though you have a military command, that's big thing. Yes. This is pretty much the last "This is what makes America great" that I'm hanging on to. The high rate of contractual adherence. High-trust societies ftw, which is one of the reasons I...

Re: Masculinity, so fragile

Careful tr0g! Someone may use that in 30 years to prove you're a pedo. If I am being considered for any sort of federal appointment, the world will be in far worse shape than anyone should care to contemplate. Also, that statement will be so far down the list of objectionable things I've said in pu...

Re: cars and how they get that way

I dimly recall SUVs have different rules regarding safety and emissions as well, so you don't have to put as much engineering into meeting the standards. But that may have changed.

I'm just still stuck on "Don't waste eggs." How exactly does he think ovulation works? There's a "release egg now" button on the cervix and the wang pushes it while you're boinking? I'm pretty sure the implication is that she should find a man at age 18 and stick with him so he has her eggs at his ...

Re: Fables of the Reconstruction, or Construction Time Again

So, we has house. We drove over after closing and the idiot son of the homeowner had left the front door open. Not unlocked, mind you, but wide open. So my first task was to replace the locks, just in case and to keep vandals, etc, out of the joint while we do everything else. The semi-abandoned car...

We'd have creme brulee every night until the wife and child got sick of it. We have done that. The issue is that anything dessert related means extra fat and sugar this dude doesn't need. Fortunately the hens are slowing down and we don't light the coop in the winter. I'm not a big sweets guy, so I...

Re: Fables of the Reconstruction, or Construction Time Again

After that, get architect started on plans and estimates so we can get a construction loan. Wade through all the crap left on the property and decide what stays and what goes. Call a tow company about the car left half on my property and half on the vacant property next door. You can't just get the...

Fables of the Reconstruction, or Construction Time Again

So, 80s music thread title aside, I'm starting a thread to update y'all on the new house build. I may set up a dropbox later for more interesting stuff. Current status: waiting on a termite treatment report and receipt to be able to close Monday. Treatment was done yesterday, so in-house counsel wil...

Theoretical debates on what we call ourselves! My favorite part of libertarianism! More seriously, as long as we're generally working towards less state interference and towards more individual rights and liberty I'm good with it.

I know way too many people with CHLs to think waving a knife around is a behavior that doesn't end with you getting shot. I will occasionally point at people/things with a knife, but that's in the context of being in the kitchen and chopping things with a knife and needing to point with the knife in...

I am babysitting the wife is phone this afternoon while she sleeps off the outpatient surgery she had this morning. This thing would drive me insane if it was mine. She has notifications turned on for everything. No wonder she doesn’t respond to texts, they’re drowned in the flood.

Made garlic spread the other day. Put as many cloves of garlic as would fit in a ramekin, olive oil to cover, bake at 350 for one hour. Dumped it all in a cup and used the boat motor to turn it into mush. Added some salt to taste. Yum. Next time I'll drain off some of the oil before mixing as it has...

I will say one thing in the flight attendant's defense. All of them having the same name is legit suspicious. Isn't the name on your government issued ID, now required for travel, supposed to match the name on your boarding pass? Shouldn't the system have flagged this well before boarding the plane...

Almost all new construction in the city of Houston is infill townhomes. They squeeze about 6 in on a 10K lot. Shared driveway, barely a yard. Technically single family because they aren't attached.

I remain curious how anybody on the Left thinks Pence would be better for their domestic issues than Trump. Pence is a true believer, which the Donald ain't. Of course, I also see a lot of WHARGARBL about how if Trump gets impeached he takes Pence down with him in some unspecified fashion. I don't s...
