Re: Guns and Whatnot.

Ahh the good ol days of "numbchucks" and "death stars". Throwing stars from the dodgy knife place in the crappy mall a part of your childhood too? There was always a knife store, but they kept going out of business so it moved around the mall. And you get the stars but they were barely sharp ...

Re: Guns and Whatnot.

Definitely under the "whatnot" category: New York's nunchucks ban is unconstitutional, federal court rules Nunchucks have always been primarily useful for providing your friends with lolz when you hit yourself in the nuts with them. Why anybody felt a need to ban unintentional physical comedy is be...

Re: Observations of the Random sort

I saw a bumper sticker on my way home today that said "Prayer is our best defense against evil", which actually explains a lot about the state of the world. I find a nice jacketed hollow point works better on a personal level, but it's inadequate for larger systemic issues. Larger systemic issues r...

Made gravlax for the wife and child. That went over well, and considering how easy it was, I’ll have to do it again sometime. I’m told it was good.

Re: Avenna... Avennatt.. Avenotgoingtoworkhereanymore

It is becoming a truism that the more performatively woke feminist allies among men are all actually serial harassers/abusers/predators. Avenatti looks like he falls squarely into that camp, in addition to being a deadbeat.

Re: Is the ACLU getting too Woke?

I’d say the ACLU opposing the Title IX reforms they’re implementing is a bigger problem. After all, the new reforms ‘inappropriately favor the accused’.

as far as Texas goes, I don't understand why white women voting for the Hispanic guy is bad, but okay. Conversely, I don't see why black women propping up the white male patriarchy is good, but whatevs.

Best of all, it discourages people from congregating in the kitchen. The only way this can be done is one of those tiny 60s/70s kitchen separate from the rest of the house. Otherwise, you're screwed. People cluster in the kitchen. You can either be a militant borderline asshole and shoo them out co...

I broke my self-imposed social media exile to mock Beto's loss. Beto supporters, in general, have been insufferable so they needed the L.

Beto is now Nacho. Nacho Senator!

Re: Vote or Die

Local furniture place is doing his usual trick, which is come in and buy ridiculous $$$ of furniture and declare your team/candidate. If your team/candidate wins, he’ll refund you 50%. I am amazingly confident Ted Cruz is going to win, so if I had anyplace to put more furniture I would take that bet.

Re: Guns and Whatnot.

One of the worst ideas in all of gundom (gundam????) is that "the little lady should shoot a small barreled revolver". Its stupid. They are the hardest weapons to control, shoot quickly, reload etc. Go big first, but not gigantic in grip size - like a g19 or a single stack 9mm or something. Yeah, I...

Yeah, living in one of the hurricane magnets means you have to give some thought to it. I may actually replace my current portable generator with a dual fuel model that runs on gas or propane. I usually have anywhere from 2 to 4 propane cylinders full at any given moment that seems better than worry...

There's a certain level of it that makes sense just because shit happens, especially when you live in places where natural disasters are frequent (hello, hurricanes!). But full-on TEOTWAWKI prepping is just apocalypse LARPing.

My favorite change in financial firm branding is that one of my friends is asked to look scruffy and a bit disheveled because they need to have a "mad scientists looking quant" to have legitimacy with big investors like pension funds. Given that a shit-ton of Wall St. quants come out of the graduat...

Yes! We would safely hobble the Canadians and Scandinavians during winters—as well as give opportunities to Southern hemisphere countries during the northern winter. But, as mentioned, like all time zone systems, it falls down near the poles. In the dark, you can't see the Canadians coming.... Ther...

Whole council meetings spent on abortion, daylight savings time, and the oxford comma.
At least while we're pedanting out on the oxford comma, we're not passing legislation.

Also, mayo is both a condiment and an ingredient and infinitely superior to Miracle Whip.
