Re: Twitter!

I seem to recall Dave Weigel having a fairly good-looking face (in a "cute and non-threatening so that pre-pubsecent girls are likely to have a crush on him" kind of way). Why the HELL does he insist on that 70s-porn-star hairstyle and mustache? His profile pic on twitter is his disembodied hair an...

Re: Twitter!

Dave Weigel blocked me after I called him a disingenuous schmuck. I think I win, because at the end of the day, I’m not Dave Weigel.

Re: Twitter!

I’m continuing my annual tradition of posting quotes from other people and tagging them #MLKDay. Today’s guest of honor: Stokely Carmichael.

I really want to do the one about MLK but that might be too obvious.

Re: Worthwhile YouTubez Finds

I love watching YouTube DIY videos. A large portion of these people are half-competent at best. No matter how bad you feel about your garage/workbench/space, some jackhole has one that looks a thousand times worse and is showing it to the world. Plus, random pet walkthroughs.

I'm almost convinced someone in my house is eating AAA batteries. We're going through a gonzo pack in less than 6 months.

I've also had good experience with Geico. GEICO pissed me off years ago when I was in the Army. I had an utterly clean driving record and called them up. "Sorry, we don't insure E4s." Well okay, then, fuck you too. Maybe you should put that in the ads you run all over post. That's really surprising...

Re: Orange is the new President

I dug up a list (Fake News alert!) from late last year, and a majority of them focus on blocking property of various groups and governments. This implies (to me, anyway) that the blocking of property is something that is difficult/impossible to do under normal legislative or rule making procedures. ...

I'd be more tore up about Trump declaring a National Emergency and what not if we weren't already under, let's see, 28 active national emergencies , including one going on since Carter declared it in 1979. You'll pardon me if I don't think this is anymore of a constitutional crisis than the 90% of s...

This could in Raising Little Liberty Lovers, but there's a joint here in town called Jus' Mac . They do a good mac and cheese, but nothing mindblowing. I took the tr0gling there once because, hey, all American kids like (or will eat) mac and cheese. In response I got this immortal complaint: "I didn...

Re: Libertarian Diskanen

The last time I remember seeing anything by Will Wilkinson it was an "I'm all in favor of free speech, but..." argument. I don't remember the specifics (hate speech, maybe?) because I tend to tune out buttmonkeys and their arguments. If he's involved over at Niskanen, I'm not surprised they dumped p...

Re: The Road to Damascus

If the Turks roll in and start slaughtering Kurds, it's not better. If you do a well-defined and planned pullout with negotiated settlements with the Turks and the Kurds, you can get something a bit cleaner. We couldn't get the Kurds and Turks to play nice when we were the imperial governor of Iraq...

There's two options as I see the Middle East. Take it all over and stay forever, or kill a bunch of assholes once a generation and leave.

Re: Guns and Whatnot.

The thing about switchblades is... they kinda suck. You can open a lock-back folder pretty quickly, with one hand, if it has a pin or stud on the blade near the pivot point. Should they be banned? No. Same with the butterfly flip-folders. Same for any knife with a 2.5" or longer or whateverthefuckt...

Re: The son of "What the hell are YOU staring at?"

I thought I was being generous with 1000x since we're comparing a stylized, realist 70s movie about a journey through three boroughs of actual New York with an 80s movie shot in East St Louis about a post-apocalyptic Manhattan. Wait, there were criminal gangs of top-hatted mimes roaming New York at...

Ahh the good ol days of "numbchucks" and "death stars". Throwing stars from the dodgy knife place in the crappy mall a part of your childhood too? There was always a knife store, but they kept going out of business so it moved around the mall. And you get the stars but they were barely sharp ...

Definitely under the "whatnot" category: New York's nunchucks ban is unconstitutional, federal court rules Nunchucks have always been primarily useful for providing your friends with lolz when you hit yourself in the nuts with them. Why anybody felt a need to ban unintentional physical comedy is be...

I saw a bumper sticker on my way home today that said "Prayer is our best defense against evil", which actually explains a lot about the state of the world. I find a nice jacketed hollow point works better on a personal level, but it's inadequate for larger systemic issues. Larger systemic issues r...

It is becoming a truism that the more performatively woke feminist allies among men are all actually serial harassers/abusers/predators. Avenatti looks like he falls squarely into that camp, in addition to being a deadbeat.

I’d say the ACLU opposing the Title IX reforms they’re implementing is a bigger problem. After all, the new reforms ‘inappropriately favor the accused’.

Best of all, it discourages people from congregating in the kitchen. The only way this can be done is one of those tiny 60s/70s kitchen separate from the rest of the house. Otherwise, you're screwed. People cluster in the kitchen. You can either be a militant borderline asshole and shoo them out co...
